FAQs

Why do I need this?

Tracking your metrics, especially your app-specific business miles is critical for tax deduction purposes. Without proper records you cannot accurately assess your mileage deduction, are more vulnerable if audited and may have to rely on app mileage reporting (which may not always be available or include all relevant miles). This spreadsheet goes beyond simple mileage tracking to help you truly gauge if your side hustle is worth it by recording hourly pay, pay per mile and more.

Can't I make this myself?

Of course you can design something like this yourself but you most likely have enough things going on while also managing a side hustle. Our spreadsheets have been downloaded over 3,000 times by busy individuals like you helping them to see deeper into their revenue streams, organizing everything in one place and saving the hassle of trying to design formulas and tables.

Is this going to be complicated?

Let's be honest spreadsheets can be intimidating (pivot tables, formulas etc) but everything here is "plug and play". Simply follow our example guide (delete the sample data before starting), enter in your information and watch everything get calculated for you, automatically.

Can I import my driving data to this sheet?

This spreadsheet only requires a few minutes a day to update but it does require your data input as it does not link to your driving apps. In just a few minutes a day you'll be able to closely track trends as you're interacting with your numbers on a daily or weekly basis.

I use Google Sheets, which spreadsheet should I get?

You can import our Excel (.xlsx) file into Google Sheets without affecting the file. Both .xlsx (Excel) and .numbers (macOS) files are included here.

How should I enter data when multi-apping?

When entering data for multi-apping shifts enter each app used on a separate row. Separating mileage by app will give you a better understanding of how each app performs and provide clearer tax reporting (attributing the correct mileage to each app). Note this may affect how you interpret some data (i.e. average hours driven calculates a lower value as it does not consider multi-apping in the same day).
